UNC is an experimental suite of tools for peer-to-peer file sharing, communication, and catalog federation.

It grew out of practical experiments with Reticulum, local-first software, small networks, constrained links, and the desire for tools that feel more like old internet utilities than modern platforms.

UNC is built around a few simple beliefs:

  • small tools can still be powerful
  • networks do not need to be centralized to be useful
  • direct peer exchange is worth preserving
  • local ownership matters
  • experiment with decentralized and mesh infrastructure to hedge against centralization

The project is early, but the direction is clear: useful tools for people who want to communicate, share, and sync outside of the cloud/established platforms/etc...
