Experimental systems for experimental networks. Introducing UNC

Introducing UNC

UNC is a small suite of peer-to-peer tools for strange networks.

The first major piece is a file-sharing system built on Reticulum. It uses hubs for catalog search, but direct peer-to-peer transfer for the actual file exchange.

That distinction matters.

The hub helps users find things. It does not sit in the middle of every transfer. Files are content-addressed, transfers are verified, and hubs can sync catalog state with each other.

The larger idea is a suite:

  • file sharing
  • chat
  • hub federation
  • sync tools
  • documentation
  • experiments for constrained networks

UNC is early, rough, and changing quickly.

But the shape is there: practical tools for local-first, resilient, peer-to-peer networks.
